Dialysis Technician Career Outlook

The dialysis technician career outlook is good. Dialysis technicians are  considered a subset of a larger BLS Clinical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians career classification.

Job prospects are expected to be very good.
There were about 161,500  medical laboratory technicians in 2012. Employment of this group is expected to grow about 30 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than average for all occupations.

Dialysis technician employment
is expected to grow with a growing aging population
Medical laboratory technicians and dialysis technicians  will be needed to use and maintain the equipment needed for diagnosis and treatment.

Federal health legislation will increase the number of patients who have access to health insurance and the demand for dialysis technicians and other medical laboratory technicians will grow.  Additional openings will result from the need to replace workers who transfer to other occupations or retire.
